The short answer

Yes for a clean copy, at either raw price, even after a month in which PSA 10 prices fell faster than raw. Raw Espeon ex #155 is $273.76 on TCGplayer (26 October 2026), 13% below the $315.57 we recorded on 18 September; raw eBay sales average about $219.99 (PriceCharting). PSA 10s sold for a median of $851 since 19 October (15 sales), down from about $1,010 in early October. A PSA 9 sells for about $240. At PSA Standard ($59.99) and a 30% chance of a 10, grading averages about +$53 against a $274 raw sale and about +$100 against a $220 one. Break-even is about a 20% chance of a 10 at the TCGplayer price and 11% at the PriceCharting average.

Put another way: at 30% odds and the TCGplayer raw price, grading keeps paying until PSA 10s fall to about $649. That is the difference from Leafeon ex, the next card up in the set: Leafeon's 10 sells for a little over twice raw, Espeon's for about 3.1 times. Espeon is the #4 card in Prismatic Evolutions, after Umbreon ex, Sylveon ex and Leafeon ex.

Which PSA tier applies

  • PSA Standard ($59.99, cap $1,000). Raw ($273.76), a PSA 9 (~$240) and today's PSA 10 price (~$851) all sit under $1,000.
  • A 10 can be upcharged. 9 of the 28 PSA 10 sales from 5 October to 26 October were above $1,000 (up to $1,275.00). If PSA values your 10 above $1,000 it moves it to Priority ($79.99) and bills the $20 difference; at today's ~$851 it would not apply, so the math below leaves it out.
  • PSA's cheaper Value tiers have been paused since 2 June 2026. PSA ties their return to its backlog falling to about 5 million cards; it reported 8.2 million on 6 October. Standard takes about 90 to 100 business days, so we charge 135 calendar days of waiting.

The math

  • Net if it grades 10: 851.00 × 0.8675 − 0.40 − 59.99 − 6 = $671.85
  • Net if it grades 9: 239.75 × 0.8675 − 0.40 − 59.99 − 6 = $141.59
  • Net if 8 or lower: 201.83 × 0.8675 − 0.40 − 59.99 − 6 = $108.70
  • Expected net if graded: 0.30 × 671.85 + 0.50 × 141.59 + 0.20 × 108.70 = $294.09

Version A, raw = $273.76: sell raw today 273.76 × 0.8675 − 0.40 = $237.09; cost of waiting $4.38; expected gain 294.09 − 237.09 − 4.38 = +$53.

Version B, raw = $219.99: sell raw today $190.44; cost of waiting $3.52; expected gain +$100.

With PriceCharting's 28-sale PSA 10 average ($969.62) instead of the recent median, version A becomes +$83. We use the lower, recent number because that is closer to what a 10 sells for now.

How much depends on your odds of a 10

Your chance of a PSA 10 Raw = $273.76 Raw = $219.99
10% −$55 −$8
20% −$1 +$46
30% +$53 +$100
40% +$107 +$154
50% +$161 +$208
60% +$215 +$262

The 9 / 8-or-lower split is kept at 5 : 2 in every row. Break-even is about 20% (version A) and 11% (version B), under the 25 to 35% PSA 10 rate usually quoted for modern Special Illustration Rares.

The catch: a PSA 9 loses money, and the 10 price is falling

A PSA 9 sells for about $240 (median of recent sales), close to raw, so after the fee, shipping and selling costs a 9 nets about $100 less than selling raw at $274. All of the expected gain comes from the 10. If your copy has off-centre borders, whitening or print lines, 30% is too high; at 10% odds the average is −$55 at the TCGplayer price.

PSA 10s have been falling faster than raw: the median sale was $1,010.00 from 5 October to 14 October (13 sales) and $851.00 from 19 October to 26 October (15 sales), -15.7%, while TCGplayer raw went from $312.32 on 1 October to $273.76. A slab you send now comes back in about four months, at whatever the price is then; the cushion before grading stops paying at 30% odds is a PSA 10 at about $649.

If PSA's Value Bulk tier returns at its pre-pause $24.99, break-even at the TCGplayer price drops to about 14% (Value tiers have their own value caps, so check them first).

What about CGC or TAG?

CGC Economy is only $20, but CGC 10s for this card have sold for $274.69 and $305.00 since August (only 2 sales), close to raw, so a CGC 10 does not pay for itself here. TAG 10s sold for $658.01 to $1,500.00 since August (10 sales), around PSA 10 prices, but we have not modelled TAG's fees; use the calculator below if you are weighing it.
