Is Mew ex (Paldean Fates #232) worth grading? October 2026

Data as of 4 October 2026. Raw price: TCGplayer market price (near-mint, holofoil) from our daily snapshot. Graded prices: PriceCharting sold listings for this card, accessed 4 October 2026. Fees: PSA's published fee schedule. This is a worked example of a method, not investment advice. Check today's sold prices before you decide.

Corrected 7 October 2026: a PSA 10 of this card (about $2,851) fits PSA's Super Express tier ($349, cap $5,000), so the upcharge is to Super Express, not Premier ($599) as the first version said. The expected gain rises from +$224 to +$299 and the break-even chance of a 10 drops from 12% to 10%.

The short answer

For a clean copy, yes on expectation, but only if you have a real shot at a PSA 10. Raw Mew ex #232 is $872.64 (4 October 2026). A PSA 10 sells for about $2,851, but a PSA 9 sells for about $829, which is less than raw. At a 30% chance of a 10, grading at PSA Standard comes out about +$299 ahead of selling raw. If it does not come back a 10, you end up about $132 behind. The break-even chance of a 10 is about 10%.

Which PSA tier applies

PSA prices grading by the card's value after grading, and moves a card up a tier (billing the difference) when the graded value is above the tier's cap. For Mew ex that works out like this:

  • Declare it at PSA Standard ($59.99, cap $1,000). Raw ($872.64), a PSA 9 (~$829) and a PSA 8 (~$760) are all under $1,000, so Standard is a valid tier. Unlike Umbreon ex, this card can still use the cheap tier.
  • If it comes back a PSA 10 (~$2,851), that is above Express's $2,500 cap, so PSA moves it to Super Express ($349, cap $5,000) and bills about $289.01 more. You only pay that when you get the 10.
  • Standard is slow (about 95 business days), so we charge the cost of waiting about 135 calendar days.
  • CGC Economy ($20, cap $1,000) has the same problem at the top: a CGC 10 of this card would be valued above the cap and get upcharged, and a recent CGC 9 sold for only $712. We don't have enough CGC 10 sales to do that math, so this article works through PSA.

The math, PSA Standard with the Super Express upcharge

  • Net if you sell raw today: 872.64 × 0.8675 − 0.40 = $756.62
  • Net if it grades 10: 2,851 × 0.8675 − 0.40 − $349 Super Express − 15 shipping = $2,108.84
  • Net if it grades 9: 829 × 0.8675 − 0.40 − $59.99 − 15 = $643.77
  • Net if 8 or lower: 750 × 0.8675 − 0.40 − $59.99 − 15 = $575.24
  • Expected net if graded: 0.30 × 2,108.84 + 0.50 × 643.77 + 0.20 × 575.24 = $1,069.58
  • Cost of waiting 135 days: 756.62 × 5% × 135/365 = $13.99
  • Expected gain versus selling raw: 1,069.58 − 756.62 − 13.99 = +$299

How much depends on your odds of a 10

20% +$151

The 9 / 8-or-lower split is kept at 5 : 2 in every row. Break-even is about 10%. Below that, selling raw wins on average.

Read the result carefully

Mew ex is a 10-or-nothing card, like Umbreon ex. A PSA 10 sells for about 3.3 times raw, but a PSA 9 sells for less than raw, and after grading and selling fees a 9 nets about $113 less than just selling the card raw. Seven times out of ten (at our assumed odds) you are about $132 worse off. The positive average comes entirely from the 10.

Bubble Mew is a textured full-art card, and surface and edge wear are easy to miss on textured cards. Check the back edges and corners under a bright light before you count on a 10. If the centering is worse than about 60/40 or there is any whitening, your odds drop well below the break-even.

What would change the answer

  • The PSA 10 price. At 30% odds a PSA 10 needs to sell for about $1,702 for grading to break even. Recent sales are $2,650 to $3,050, so there is room, but check sold prices, not asking prices.
  • The raw price. Raw has been flat: $877.13 on 13 Sep, $872.64 today. If raw moved above $1,000, Standard would no longer be a valid tier and every outcome would pay Priority ($79.99).
  • Your risk tolerance. A 70% chance of losing about $132 is a real risk even when the average is positive. If you need the money, selling raw is the sure thing.

Our Grading ROI Calculator takes the same inputs. Set the PSA 10 fee to the Super Express tier and the 9 and 8 fees to Standard to reproduce the upcharge case above. FAQ

How much is Mew ex #232 from Paldean Fates worth raw?
About $872.64 near-mint on TCGplayer on 4 October 2026 ($877.13 on 13 September).

How much is a PSA 10 Mew ex #232?
PSA 10 sales on 1 October 2026 were $2,799 to $2,856; the range since 28 September is $2,650 to $3,050 (PriceCharting).

Which PSA tier should I use for Mew ex #232?
PSA Standard ($59.99, up to $1,000) is valid because raw and a PSA 9 are both under $1,000. If it grades 10, PSA moves it to Super Express ($349, cap $5,000) and bills the difference.

Is a PSA 9 Mew ex worth more than raw?
Not after costs. Recent PSA 9 sales ($795 to $901, median about $829) sit around the raw price, so once you pay grading, shipping and selling fees a 9 nets less than selling the card raw.
