Card prices as of 12 October 2026. Sealed prices are StockX median sold prices, 4 July 2026 to 2 October 2026. Updated monthly.
The short answer
In all 6 sets where sealed product sells often enough on StockX to compare, the cards you can expect to pull are worth 16% to 44% of what the sealed product sells for. A Journey Together booster box comes closest ($108 of expected card value against a $243 median sale); a Paldean Fates Elite Trainer Box is furthest ($64.51 against $395). At today's resale prices, opening sealed product means paying for the fun of the pull, not buying cards cheaply. The 'Expected card value' column below is the price under which that changes.
Both ends of that range rest on few sales. The most-traded products sit in between: Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Box 33% (187 sales); Destined Rivals booster box 32% (38 sales); Scarlet & Violet 151 Elite Trainer Box 20% (30 sales).
Per pack, Scarlet & Violet 151 is the richest of the eight ($10.68 of expected card value per pack) and Journey Together the thinnest ($3.00).

Expected card value = the TCGplayer market price of every card you can pull, weighted by how often TCGplayer's published pull rates say it turns up, for the stated number of packs. 'Hits only' leaves out commons, uncommons and plain rares, which rarely sell for their listed price. Neither figure takes off selling fees or postage. 'Thin' = fewer than 10 sales in the 90 days; read those prices loosely.

When does opening make sense?
Read 'Expected card value' as a break-even price. Buy the product for less than that and, on average, the cards inside are worth more than you paid, before fees. At the resale prices above no set gets there: the gap is the sealed premium, which is what people who keep boxes sealed are paying for. Two things the averages hide:
- Most boxes land below the average. The average includes the rare box with the top card in it, so the typical box is worth less than the expected value, sometimes much less.
- Selling costs money and time. Marketplace fees take a double-digit percentage plus postage, and bulk commons sell for a fraction of their listed price, which is why 'Hits only' is the more realistic column.

Method
Card prices are TCGplayer market prices (near-mint) captured by our daily pipeline on 12 October 2026, the same rows that feed our Pack & Box EV workbook, whose formulas were checked cell by cell. Pull rates are TCGplayer's published per-set estimates from opened product; they are sample estimates and real boxes vary. Each slot is valued at the average price of the cards in its rarity, so a slot that can hold the top card or a $5 card is counted at its probability-weighted average. Sealed prices are StockX median sold prices, 4 July 2026 to 2 October 2026; products with fewer than 5 sales are not shown (Twilight Masquerade, Obsidian Flames had too few). Boxes and Elite Trainer Boxes also hold things that are not cards (sleeves, dice, a promo in some ETBs), which this comparison ignores. Every card in each set, priced, is in the Set Value Sheets.
